Ziegler to stay at Sampdoria

Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone has announced that Reto Ziegler will not longer be leaving the club after no suitable offers were received.
Sampdoria have been touting Ziegler to the highest bidders throughout the January transfer window, and both Milan and Lazio confirmed their interest. However, neither club offered Sampdoria a fee that deemed acceptable and the left-back will now be staying.
Garrone said: “There are a lot of rumours, but Ziegler is very important for Sampdoria, so we have decided to keep him.
“Our task is to build a battle-worthy team. The decision is made – Ziegler will remain a Sampdoria player.”

However, the likes of Milan and Lazio could return to bid for the Swiss international in the summer.
